What size is a shower hose connection?

That is why a listing described as standard or universal still needs an actual connection specification. Find the shower or mixer model and compare its instructions with the hose manufacturer’s stated thread.
G ½ describes a thread size, not hose length or a measured 12.7 mm outside diameter. Thread standards use nominal sizes. If identification depends on measuring a loose fitting, use the maker’s thread guide; diameter alone does not establish the thread type or pitch.

Check length, nuts and seals separately
Measure the reach you need between the outlet and the hand shower through its intended positions. A longer hose does not change the connection size.
