125 mm hook-and-loop sanding discs

These models share the stated diameter and fixing. Match the dust-hole pattern to your pad and choose the abrasive for the workpiece.

WHAT THIS SIZE TELLS YOU

A starting point for 8 exact models.

Disc diameter and backing-pad diameter can differ. Read the field label, then check the pad’s extraction-hole pattern and abrasive material as well as attachment.

The models below share the stated size or part reference. Other requirements can differ between tools.

For 125 mm hook-and-loop sanding discs, check the fixing, extraction pattern, abrasive type and grit as well as diameter. Punched paper discs and open-net abrasives have different backing and extraction requirements. Pack size also needs care: a seven-piece kit may contain six abrasives and a pad saver.

Eight holes and open net are different specifications

Bosch’s GEX 18V-125 manual requires the holes in a punched sanding sheet to align with those in the fitted pad. Count and position both matter; an eight-hole label is not approval for every 125 mm sander. Compare the actual disc and pad layouts.

The same manual describes a Pad Saver between the pad and abrasive, particularly with nets such as Bosch M480. That is guidance for this named model. Follow your own tool and abrasive instructions for mesh, pad savers and dust extraction instead of assuming that an open net makes every backing arrangement suitable.

Exact 125 mm abrasive and pack examples

All three examples use hook-and-loop attachment. The table distinguishes punched paper from open net and records the stated grit and contents. Check the exact part number: a different grit, diameter or pack quantity can have a different code.

Does a 123 mm pad need a 125 mm disc?

For the Makita DBO180Z shown on Makita’s UK DBO180 page, the published sanding-disc diameter is 125 mm while the pad diameter is 123 mm. This is an example of two separately labelled measurements. Use the specified abrasive diameter rather than rounding a measured pad into a disc size.

A replacement backing pad is another component. Match its manufacturer part and exact tool fit separately; the abrasive diameter does not establish the pad’s screw pattern or mounting compatibility.

Choose grit for the work, not for the disc diameter

The diameter and hook-and-loop attachment do not select a grit. Bosch distinguishes coarse abrasives for rough sanding from fine abrasives for finishing in the GEX manual. Determine the material, existing surface and required finish before choosing the abrasive maker’s grit and product range.

The M480 starter kit contains three grits; that is a description of the pack, not an instruction to use all three on every surface. When comparing Amazon results, include 125 mm, hook and loop, the required hole pattern or net type, grit and quantity. Check whether a pad saver counts towards the advertised piece total.

What else needs to match?

  • Use the manufacturer’s abrasive diameter, separately from backing-pad diameter.
  • Match hook-and-loop fixing and the extraction layout to the installed pad.
  • For open-net abrasives, follow the exact tool’s pad-saver and extraction instructions.
  • Choose abrasive material and grit for the workpiece and intended finish.
  • Separate abrasive-disc count from pad savers or other kit components.
  • Match replacement backing pads by exact model and manufacturer part.
DeWalt DCW210N-XJ: buying checks

Select 125 mm hook-and-loop abrasive discs and check the extraction-hole pattern against the fitted platen.

  • Match the disc holes to the tool's dust-extraction openings.
  • Choose grit and abrasive type for the material and finish required.
  • Replacement backing pads need a separate exact-model compatibility check; disc diameter alone is insufficient.

Choose 125 mm hook-and-loop discs; compare their extraction-hole layout with the pad actually fitted to the tool.

  • Check extraction-hole alignment rather than relying only on diameter.
