Read the connection’s job before its size
A tap adapter screws onto a threaded outlet and provides the watering-system connection. A hose-end fitting grips the hose and joins that system. A product labelled 1/2-inch can therefore refer to a tap thread or a hose size; the fraction alone does not identify the required component.
BSP names are nominal thread sizes, not a direct measurement across the thread. Keep the full manufacturer designation when comparing fittings. Swagelok’s thread-identification guidance distinguishes nominal size, measured diameter and pitch; do not convert a BSP name into a hose-bore measurement.

Hose bore is a separate specification
Hozelock’s UK Ultraflex page identifies a 12.5 mm inner diameter. That is the bore inside the hose, not its outer wall diameter and not the tap’s thread size. Record the hose’s published size when choosing an end fitting; a photograph of a yellow connector cannot establish the dimensions.
For a shopping search, name the component as well as the size: for example, “Hozelock 2256 dual tap connector” or “Hozelock 2030 hose end connector”. Compare the manufacturer code, thread or hose range, and supplied inserts before selecting an offer.
Application and source scope
These examples concern ordinary garden-watering connections. They do not identify pressure-washer high-pressure couplings, indoor tap aerators or every connector sold under the same brand. Use the exact equipment instructions for those separate systems.
