Garden-hose connector sizes

Identify which connection you need to replace: a tap adapter, hose-end fitting, hose joiner or accessory connector. These are different parts of the watering system. Hozelock distinguishes hose-end connectors from stop-flow accessory connectors and specifies hose diameters for particular fittings. A tap’s thread description is also different from the hose’s bore size. Keep both measurements with the product code when you search, and compare the exact connection family rather than relying on a universal-fit title.

Choose a garden-hose connector by its job first: attaching the hose at the tap, connecting a watering accessory, or joining two hose sections. Then match the stated hose size and connection system. Similar colours and a familiar click do not establish the complete specification.

Hose connector, water stop or repairer?

GARDENA’s UK product references distinguish these roles. Its 18215-20 and 18216-20 connectors are described for the hose lead; the 18213-20 Water Stop belongs at the watering-accessory end. The Water Stop page explains that removing an accessory stops flow and reconnecting one restores it. A repairer instead joins hose sections: choose it for that task, rather than as a substitute for an accessory coupling.

The table preserves the sizes in each named UK manufacturer reference. These examples describe Original GARDENA System products; they do not certify an unnamed connector or a different manufacturer’s system.

Keep the tap specification on a separate line

Write down the hose’s marked size and the tap adapter’s specification separately. The hose sizes in this table do not identify a threaded tap outlet. If a set includes an adapter or reducing insert, compare its stated tap connection with the existing tap as well as checking the hose-end pieces.

For an existing system, retain the brand and article code of the connection you are replacing. Compare the manufacturer’s supported range and the actual pack contents. A connector set may combine several useful roles, but its piece count alone cannot tell you whether it contains the one missing component.

Take a specific description to Amazon

Search with the component’s role, hose size and manufacturer code when known. Check whether the selected offer is a single fitting, a pair or a mixed kit. These manufacturer examples help identify the required type; they are not checked Amazon offers or a recommendation to replace equipment that already works.

MATCH THE DETAILS TO YOUR JOB

What to check before buying

  1. Identify the role: tap-side hose connector, accessory-end fitting or hose repairer.
  2. Match the marked hose size to the exact connector reference.
  3. Check the tap adapter separately from the hose attachment.
  4. Confirm the named system, supplied inserts and number of each fitting in the pack.
