YOUR PROJECT CHECKLIST

Organise a home workshop

Sort the tools and small parts you own before adding storage. Compare the space inside each box and compartment with the objects that actually need a home.

Manufacturer references checked

For freestanding storage and a clear working area. This checklist does not design wall-mounted shelving or specify structural loads. Keep batteries, chemicals and sharp tools stored according to their own instructions.

MEASURE FIRST

Before you buy

  1. Make three groups before shopping

Separate frequently used tools, small consumables and occasional-use equipment. Keep original labels and part numbers with the items so that the next replacement can be identified.

  2. Check internal space

Measure the longest tool and the space needed for its handle, case or charger. External box dimensions do not establish the usable interior space.

  3. Check what holds the parts in place

Stanley’s 1-97-517 uses removable cups and a lid designed to retain them when shut. Treat divider layout and retention as things to inspect on the exact organiser you choose. Manufacturer reference

  4. Keep systems specific

If you want boxes to clip or stack together, use the maker’s named compatible range. For a workbench, check its published capacity, worktop dimensions and folded size against the intended use.
