Safety glasses and goggles

Start with the eye hazard identified for the job, then choose eyewear with documented performance for that application. Glasses, goggles and over-glasses are different formats; a clear lens alone does not tell you the level or type of protection. 3M’s selection guidance distinguishes design, protective properties and coatings. Prescription spectacles, other PPE and the fit around your face also need consideration. The shopping results are a place to compare products, not a substitute for the equipment instructions or a task-specific assessment.

MATCH THE DETAILS TO YOUR JOB

What to check before buying

  1. Check the exact model’s protection markings and manufacturer documentation against the hazards identified for the task.
  2. Confirm whether the design fits over prescription glasses or needs a separate prescription insert.
  3. Compare fit adjustment, lens tint, ventilation and any coating claims in the selected model’s specification.
  4. Check interaction with other PPE and the supplied storage or replacement components before choosing a pack.
