Work-glove sizes and materials

Choose gloves for the task and the manufacturer’s stated protection, then use that brand’s sizing chart. Gardening, general handling, wet work and other tasks can call for different materials and documented performance. A coating colour or a thick appearance does not establish cut, chemical or electrical protection. Check whether a listing describes disposable gloves, reusable handling gloves or a specialist product. When comparing multipacks, count pairs separately from individual gloves so the quantities remain meaningful.

MATCH THE DETAILS TO YOUR JOB

What to check before buying

  1. Use the manufacturer’s hand-measurement chart to select the exact size rather than assuming sizes match across brands.
  2. Check the stated intended tasks, material and documented performance markings for the hazards actually present.
  3. Compare cuff length, grip coating and dexterity requirements with the equipment instructions for the planned work.
  4. Read whether the pack count means pairs or individual gloves, plus the care and replacement guidance.
