E27 LED bulbs: output, dimensions and dimming

Choose an E27 LED bulb by the fitting's cap and electrical requirements, then compare light output, body size and dimming. E27 identifies the cap, not one bulb shape or brightness. The two Philips UK examples below both provide 806 lumens, yet their dimensions and dimming specifications differ. Keep the exact product code with your shortlist so an A60 multipack and a decorative ST64 bulb do not become assumed substitutes simply because both say E27.

Two E27 examples with the same lumen output

Both references specify a 220–240 V supply. The dimensions below are the manufacturer's bulb height and width, not the retail carton. A shared cap and lumen figure therefore do not settle whether the lamp fits a shade or recessed space.

Compare lumens with lumens, and watts with watts

The A60 example lists 7 W actual power; the ST64 lists 5.9 W. Both carry a 60 W equivalence description, which is not their electrical consumption. Compare nominal luminous flux for output and actual power separately rather than searching only for a 60 W LED bulb.

Colour temperature is another independent choice. The A60 has a fixed 2700 K specification. The named WarmGlow product changes within its stated 2200–2700 K range as it dims; that does not describe every dimmable E27 bulb. Check the exact family when matching lamps already in a room.

Check the fitting and control before ordering

Read the fitting's permitted lamp type, supply, dimensions and operating conditions. The non-dimmable example should not be selected as a dimmable replacement. For the dimmable example, confirm the exact control using the manufacturer's compatibility information; the word dimmable is not approval for every existing wall control.

When comparing Amazon results, retain E27, the required lumens, colour temperature, body dimensions and dimming status. If an exact article is identified, include its EAN. Confirm the selected pack quantity and variant; manufacturer examples here substantiate the specifications, not a particular retailer offer.

MATCH THE DETAILS TO YOUR JOB

What to check before buying

  1. Match the E27 cap and the fitting's electrical and operating requirements.
  2. Check bulb height and width, not packaging dimensions.
  3. Compare lumen output, actual watts and colour temperature as separate properties.
  4. Require the correct dimming status and a documented compatible control where needed.
  5. Confirm the exact EAN, selected variant and number of bulbs supplied.
