Door stops and wedges

Decide whether you need a temporary floor wedge or a fixed stop that limits a door’s travel. Their fitting requirements are different, even when both appear under door stops. Measure the gap beneath the door and consider the floor surface for a wedge; for a fixed stop, compare projection and contact position with the door and handle. Check the door’s own requirements before choosing a product, especially where it is intended to close automatically or forms part of a fire-safety arrangement.

MATCH THE DETAILS TO YOUR JOB

What to check before buying

  1. Identify wedge, wall-mounted or floor-mounted format and compare the intended function with the door arrangement.
  2. For wedges, match the stated height range and base material to the door gap and floor surface.
  3. For fixed stops, check projection, contact point and fixing-hole dimensions against the door swing and substrate.
  4. Confirm supplied fixings and pack quantity, and follow the door manufacturer’s restrictions on holding or stopping it.
